Dr. Ehsan Azimi
Board Certified Dermatologist
Dr. Azimi is a Harvard-trained physician-scientist and expert in medical dermatology, aesthetic dermatology, and laser surgery. He completed his dermatology residency at the prestigious Harvard Combined Dermatology Program, following a transitional year in internal medicine at Metrowest Medical Center (Tufts University School of Medicine). His clinical training includes leading institutions such as Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston Children's Hospital, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and Lahey Hospital and Medical Center.
Before residency, Dr. Azimi conducted a research fellowship at the Cutaneous Biology Research Center at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), where he made pioneering discoveries on mast cells and Mrgpr receptors. His research advanced the understanding of skin inflammation and sensory biology, including the first elucidation of the mechanism behind Red Man Syndrome, a common drug-induced reaction. He holds two U.S. patents for his scientific innovations.
Dr. Azimi has received research funding and awards from esteemed organizations, including the National Eczema Association and the Society for Investigative Dermatology. He has authored over 40 publications in top-tier journals such as Nature Communications, Nature Reviews, Journal of Clinical Investigation, and Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. He also serves as a peer reviewer for several journals, including Journal of Investigative Dermatology, Cell, ITCH, and Lasers in Surgery and Medicine.
As a physician-scientist, Dr. Azimi cares for a wide spectrum of dermatologic conditions-from skin cancer screenings and pediatric dermatology to acne, rosacea, atopic dermatitis, and rare inflammatory skin diseases. Trained at Massachusetts General Hospital, where many of the lasers and aesthetic procedures were invented, Dr. Azimi is highly skilled in laser surgery and cosmetic dermatology. He also received advanced training in hair loss management at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospital.
In addition to his clinical and research work, Dr. Azimi contributed to Project Phoenix, a Massachusetts General initiative providing laser tattoo removal to high-risk youth, helping them reclaim their lives and futures.
